
Colleen Elvidge began her solo career with an
appearance as a guest soloist with Southend Boys Choir at the South Bank
Theatre,
Born and brought up in Leigh-on-Sea where she lives with her husband and three children, she is currently studying a music degree with Open University and works as a music specialist at a local primary school.
Colleen has many solo recitals to her name, which
enable her to perform a varied repertoire which includes art songs, operatic
arias and songs from musical theatre, many of which benefit local charities.
Colleen’s first operatic role was as Michaela in Bizet’s Carmen. She has
also performed many of the best loved sacred works, including Handel’s
Messiah, Vivaldi Gloria, Rutter’s Requiem & Mendelssohn’s Elijah. Colleen
was a soloist for the first performance in this area of the newly discovered
Handel Gloria. Particular highlights also include singing at the Millenium
Dome as part of a production depicting Southend’s history, as well as
performing in the
